AI visibility in 90 days: a concrete plan
A realistic 90-day plan for AI visibility consists of three phases: mapping in the first week, technical and content fixes in month one, and building credibility with ongoing measurement in months two and three. The order matters, because there's little point building content before you know what's actually missing.
Day 1-7: Map where you stand today
Start with a free AI visibility scan and note down exactly what ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity answer about your business right now. This becomes the baseline you measure everything else against. At the same time, list every place the business is listed online: website, Google Business profile, industry directories and any social profiles, as preparation for the next phase.
Week 2-4: Clean up facts and the technical foundation
Make name, address, opening hours and services identical everywhere you're listed. Check that robots.txt isn't unintentionally blocking crawlers, and that the site works without JavaScript for a simple text search. Add structured data with the schema generator, and consider an llms.txt if you have a lot of documentation or a large content archive, set up quickly with our generator.
Month 2: Build content and credibility
Rewrite the weakest content to directly answer the five to ten questions your customers actually ask before buying. Start working on third-party reviews in parallel: ask satisfied customers for a review, follow up on industry listings, and consider whether there are relevant press or guest post opportunities. This is slower work than the technical fixes, so give it the whole month to develop.
Month 3: Measure, adjust, repeat
Run a new check and compare it to the baseline from day one. Has the answer changed? Are you mentioned where you weren't before? Use the findings to adjust your efforts going forward: more work where you're seeing progress, a different approach where you see no change at all.
- Week 1: Baseline. Run the check, map every listing.
- Week 2-3: Clean up facts and consistency across channels.
- Week 4: Add structured data and any llms.txt.
- Week 5-8: Rewrite weak content, start collecting third-party reviews.
- Week 9-11: Continue the content and credibility work, follow up on industry listings.
- Week 12: Run a new check, compare it to the baseline, and plan the next 90 days.
After day 90 you're not done, you've just made it through the first round. AI answers keep changing as models get updated and your competitors work on the same thing, just as we describe in What is AEO. Ongoing monitoring with ModelSaid is what lets you catch changes in week 15 or week 30, not only when someone happens to mention that a competitor showed up instead of you.
